COVID-19

  • Under the current Pandemic, NHS England have set out extremely stringent infection control precautions which we are required to follow for the safety of both our staff and patients. As such, patients will be required to comply with the guidance set out below (which is sent out via email to patients prior to attendance at the surgery) in order to be given access to the building and receive treatment. Patients will also be required to respond to COVID screening questions by email prior to the appointment.

THE CHECKLIST: COVID-19 PROTOCOL

  • An email response to questions in SECTION A & B.
  • Letting us know if you have to pay for treatment or are exempt -you will need to make a Pre- payment via phone or bring exact cash in a clear plastic bag of £23.80
  • Wearing a Facemask / covering to enter the practice to be kept on until you are in the dental chair.
  • No rings, bracelets or watches- you will need to disinfect your hands with the gel we give you.
  • Bringing a plastic bag for personal belongings.
  • Provision of intercom at front door to gain access to practice
  • Bringing your own pen
  • Checking travel arrangements to make sure you arrive 10 mins before your appointment
  • There will be no toilet facilities to minimise spread of infection
  • Also, If you are exempt from wearing a mask , you will still need to wear a face shield and provide a letter confirming exemption from your doctor

You will also be asked about your medical history

  1. Diabetes
  2. Heart disease & blood pressure
  3. Bleeding disorders
  4. Asthma
  5. Allergies
  6. Hepatitis / HIV or any other infections
  7. Undergoing and other serious treatment (cancer treatment, recent surgery)
  8. A list of your repeat prescriptions / medications
  9. Mobility issues

Without this information we will not be able to see you and your appointment will be cancelled and given to somebody else

You will be asked the following questions via email

  1. Have you had any of the COVID-19 symptoms listed here (new continuous cough, sneezing, a high temperature, loss / change in sense of smell or taste)?
  2. Have you had a positive swab test for Covid-19 in the last two weeks?
  3. Have you had close contact with anyone who has quarantined in the last 2 weeks?
  4. Have you been advised to shield by your GP?

Please note that even if you have been vaccinated against the SarsCov-2 virus, you will still need to follow the infection control guidance referred to above.

ARRIVAL FOR APPOINTMENTS 

  • If you need someone to assist in interpreting, you may bring ONLY ONE PERSON such as a
  • Family member who will also need to arrive wearing a facemask. 
  • Do not bring personal belongings with you (such as shopping). You will need to bring a plastic bag to put your coat and personal items in. 
  • You will not be allowed to use your mobile phone in the building at any time.  
  • You will be escorted to the treatment room when you arrive  

Types of treatment provided under current Covid-19 guidance 

 

Patients requiring urgent care are being prioritised. If capacity allows, routine appointments will be considered. Some non essential treatments such as scale and polish are being deferred at present.

IF YOU PAY FOR YOUR TREATMENT 

The payment will be taken BEFORE your appointment by card over the telephone. If you wish to pay by cash, please bring the exact amount in a plastic bag. Please note that we do not have contactless facility so if you wish to pay by card on the day, a pin number will be required.

If you are entitled to free NHS dental service, let us know which exemption you are receiving.   

Missed appointments 

In these difficult circumstances where time is limited, if you fail to attend your appointment without 24 hours’ notice, it is likely that we will not be able to see you for approximately 6-8 weeks due to the waiting list we currently have. 

If you have missed an appointment previously, no further appointments will be offered and arriving late for an appointment is considered as a missed appointment.
